Hunger

We serve to improve human flourishing. We see how the global hunger and nutrition crisis bears upon our local communities, and believe true community improvement depends on the thriving of its members.

We Have a Plan

Lions and Leos serve to improve human flourishing, and we see how the global hunger and nutrition crisis bears upon our local communities. We believe community improvement depends on the thriving of its members.

Our Strategic Objective

Ensure all community members have access to nutritious foods.

Lions Clubs throughout New Zealand work within our local communities to alleviate hunger and many Clubs have formed partnerships with local community foodbanks and other services who provide help and assistance where it is most needed.  Some Clubs run foodbanks and many others have food drives such as the “toot for tucker” campaign in Oamaru.

Many Club members bring non-perishable food items to dinner meetings and these are then forwarded to the local community foodbanks.  Hampers for those most in need at Xmas is another Club project that many participate in too.

If you want to help us fight hunger or if you have any ideas about how we can help your local community please get in touch with your local Lions Club, we’d love to hear from you.
