Diabetes

Diabetes is a global epidemic, affecting an increasing number of men, women, and children all over the world. As Lions and Leos, we see and feel the effects of diabetes in our communities and are doing something about it together.

We Have a Plan

Serving in diverse communities all over the world, we see and feel the effects of diabetes and are doing something about it together.

Our Strategic Objective

Reduce the prevalence of diabetes and improve quality of life for those diagnosed.

Lions Clubs New Zealand partners with Diabetes NZ and other local Diabetes associations to work within our local communities to make our communities aware of Diabetes and the threats that this poses.  Many Clubs run “Lions Strides for Awareness” walks, a great project for all ages in our community.  Clubs also run Health Awareness events and often have diabetes and blood pressure checks available on site from qualified professionals.

We distribute Diabetes information, run Healthy Eating Programs, provide emergency diabetes packs in times of disaster, sponsor Diabetes Youth camps and much much more.  If you want to help us fight diabetes or if you have any ideas about how we can help your local community please get in touch with your local Lions Club, we’d love to hear from you.
