Poster sends the right message
Amy Huffam, aged 13, from Orewa College, has won the New Zealand section of this year’s Lions International Peace Poster competition. The theme of the 2013-14 Peace Poster Contest was "Our World, Our Future". Her poster (above) was sent to Lions International Headquarters in Chicago for judging in the international contest. Amy’s entry was sponsored by Whangaparaoa Lions Club.
The judges had a hard job deciding on the winner and highly commended as second place getter the entry by Jerome Morris, 11, from Otumoetai Intermediate School, sponsored by Otumoetai Lions Club and also third place getter Kirsty Smith, 8, from Kaponga School, sponsored by Kaponga Lions Club.
“The talent is amazing in students so young - a great effort by all contestants,” says Council Chairman Joyce Raven.
The theme of the 2014-15 Peace Poster Contest is "Peace, Love and Understanding."
