Leo Clubs are sponsored by a Lions Club and are for young people between the age of 12 and a maximum age determined locally. In New Zealand Leo Clubs are school-based and are considered important because they introduce students as young as 12 to community volunteerism.
In New Zealand Leo Clubs have been growing over recent years and worldwide there are more than 5600 Leo Club. Joining a Leo Club is a great way for young people to become involved in their community, help their neighbours and serve as a community leader.
Making new friends and viewing the world through another's perspective are two of the benefits of Leo service. As community volunteers, Leos often develop confidence and organisation skills through this hands-on experience. It's also a great thing to have on a young person’s CV.
