International Director Sheryl Jensen has been honoured with Life Membership of the Lloyd Morgan Lions Clubs Charitable Trust, thanks to the Tauranga Pakeke Lions Club.
“Some time ago the club asked ID Sheryl if she was available to conduct our "Change of Officers" on 18 June and she readily agreed,” said PDG Neil Motion. “Just before the “Change of Officers” part of the meeting, ID Sheryl gave a short talk thanking the club for inviting her.”
She went on say how PDG Neil had called on her when he was District Governor, to encourage her to stand for the District's highest office. And so that was the start of her rise to International Director and how she was thoroughly enjoying the experience, at the same time pointing out she would be overseas for 123 day this coming year.
“She said it's good for [husband] Kevin as he sees the places they go to, but she only sees meeting rooms! Sheryl went on to speak about the work that Lions were currently doing around the world and how we should all be very proud to be part of the largest service organisation on the planet.
“Rather than give her a bunch of flowers, we had discovered she was not a Life Member of the LMLCCT, so we decided to present her with that honour. She was so very thrilled with this Award as it is the highest honour that New Zealand Lions can bestow upon any Lion member.”
