This year was Pureora Youth Camp’s 30th anniversary and it was celebrated in glorious sunshine. Around 30 children were supported by nine local high school students and numerous camp staff to have “the best camp ever.”
Engaging in swimming, kayaking, abseiling, horse riding, indoor bowls, dancing, climbing Mt Pureora, search and rescue activities and biscuiting on Lake Whakamaru, they were busy, busy, busy! On the last Sunday, the children were introduced to the camp’s first “camp mother’ Ailsa Mitchell who told them what camp was like in its early days, and as a mark of respect the boys performed a haka for Mrs Mitchell.
Camp children and their group leaders wish to sincerely thank Otorohanga, Piopio and Te Kuiti Lions, camp kitchen staff and all those non Lions who made this camp such a fun and memorable one!
