Fallen trees a blessing in disguise

Friday 23rd March 2012

Trees brought down by the recent (March 19) high winds in the Bay of Plenty have proved a blessing in disguise for the Tauranga City Sunrise Lions Club.

Two large trees fell at a member’s home, just as they were about to leave on holiday. But a call to fellow club members meant they could leave with an easy mind, knowing that the team would swing into action, deal with the fallen trees and take all the debris away.

Supplying firewood is a main source of funds for the Club, but their supplies have been somewhat depleted following a recent, successful, advertisement in the local newspaper.

These ‘bonus’ trees will go a long way to filling up their storage shed and once the green wood has dried out, will help fill the orders that continue to come in. [And no doubt will increase, due to the onset of winter.]
