Change of Officers 2009
This is no Cock n Bull story even though the event took part at the so named tavern in Lynfield.
On Wednesday 17 June 2009, members, friends and special guests braved a frosty night out and met in the Grenadier Room. This intimate character dining room was cosy and the atmosphere was full of warm greetings.
The special occasion was the 32nd Installation of Officers. Even though the personnel had been elected for another term and this was going to be just a re-affirmation of vows. President Dennis Karl then decided that because the installation is an important start to the new Lions' year to have it done properly. PDG Trevor and Zone Chairman Anne Lewis were invited to officiate in the awards and ceremonies.
A relaxed social half hour gave everyone chance to mix and mingle prior to the start of proceedings. Orders selected from the tempting menu were written on a form and placed with the waiter for delivery at the halfway point of the programme.
The Toast to Lions International was proposed by Secretary Alan Gray who spoke of the club's position in the global family that is Lions, and being just one of thousands of clubs doing their bit for better communities. PDG Trevor Lewis responded with thanks from LCI.
President Dennis then presented awards for 100% effort to:

President Dennis was in turn presented with an 120% Effort and appreciation award on from the members for his sterling as President in 2008 / 2009.

Then came the very important moment for Ray and Lorraine Warren. With their sponsor Alan they were called forward to be inducted into the Club by PDG Trevor. With the seriousness that this ceremony calls for their obligations and vows were read out by Trevor and they in turn vowed to abide by the aims and ethics of Lions Clubs International. Duly sworn in, sponsor Alan pinned their lapel badges on.

They were welcomed by all members and sponsor Alan on receiving Sponsor Certificates from Int President Al Brandel challenged the remaining club members to each bring in two people as new members.
There was time left for the annual secret ballot by members to select from their peers who they thought deserved the Peter Schultz Memorial Lion of the Year Cup. Special Guest Barbara Schultz, widow of the late Peter who was Charter President of the Club in 1977 sorted and counted the votes. Then standing to speak on the about the award and after a reminisce about the past she announce the unanimous winner - President Dennis. A well deserved award.

With good timing the first course of the dinners arrived, as all had worked up an appetite by then.
After a good tuck in and plenty of chit chat across the tables some 45 mins later the meeting was called to order and Zone Chairman Ann Lewis called all the incoming Officers forward and with a very well thought out and original adaption of the swearing in procedures inducted each and everyone to their elected office with light hearted banter.
The Officers:
President Dennis Karl
Vice President Robert Findlay
2nd Vice President Owen Grinter
Secretary Alan Gray
Treasurer Joy Eliot
Membership Stephen Wolley
Tail Twister Nancy Prentice
Zone Chairman and newly sworn in for 2nd Term, President Dennis
Officers: Secretary Alan, 1st VP Robert, Officiating ZC Anne, Tail Twister Nancy (soon to be Region Chairman also), President Dennis, Treasurer Joy.
Dessert followed, but some later regretted ordering, when the very large portions of sticky date pudding hit bottom. As the evening progressed President Dennis presented PDG Trevor with a bottle of wine, ZC Anne and Charter Pres. Widow Barbara with flowers in appreciation. The night drew to its conclusion with final bon homies and good nights as into the chill we all went after a memorable night.
