Otaki

Projects

Sept 2016

We have now been in existence for almost two years and our fundraising is starting to gain momentum.  We have held two quiz nights, a garage sale and a book fair among other events and as a result have been able to support our local community.

Otaki St John Health Shuttle

This is the latest service to receive funds from us as a result of our first book fair that we ran earlier this year.

Duffy Books in Homes

With the focus on our club being a family friendly club we are very keen to provide ongoing support for this worthwhile programme for the children of Otaki School.

Bike Pump Track

We are very excited about supporting this project, that when completed will be suitable for people in the community both young and the young at heart! Discussions have already been held with the Otaki Community Board and Kapiti District Council to find a suitable site for this development.

A pump track is a circuit of dirt rollers, berms and jumps. It provides lots of fun and exercise. The surface is compacted dirt.

Pump tracks can be ridden by cyclists of all ages and skill levels.  You don’t need a special kind of bicycle to ride on a pump track ‐ BMX bikes, mountain bikes, kids bikes ‐ even “scooter” bikes can be used on the pump track. All you really need is a bike with knobby tires and a helmet ‐ and you’re set!

Charter Celebrations

After many months of planning, the Lions Club of Otaki has come to fruition and has been officially approved by LCI with a charter date of August 25, 2014. Our club number is 123003.

The Lions Club of Otaki celebrated with a Charter Evening on Friday 19th September 2014 at Tatum Park with over 80 members and guests attending from other clubs.  The Mayor and Mayoress of Kapiti Coast District Council also attended the evening.
