2016 - 50 years of serving the Community of Tawa.

The Lions Club of Tawa was chartered on 16 February 1966 and currently has a membership of more than 28 members. Our club is a mixed gender club from Young to Young at Heart and our objective is to serve the Tawa community by upholding the principles on which Lions Clubs International was founded.

Tawa is the northern-most friendly community of Wellington, the nation’s capital city. The area is predominantly residential with associated shopping and service facilities, good schooling and light to medium industry.

An important part of serving the community is fund raising starting with our weekly Saturday Tawa Lions Market at Outlet City, Tawa. Also supporting other charities in Tawa including Tawa Community Patrol , ,

KCA  , , Rotary Club of Tawa, street side collections including Breast Cancer, Blind Dog Appeal, SPCA, Child Cancer.

We have regular meetings including one with a guest speaker meeting each month. Our guest speakers include people from business’s, sport from local to international level, charities, community support, projects including the Smart Motorway, Transmission gully, scientists from The Malegan Institute, Tawa Volunteer Fire Brigade. We welcome everyone to come along, by getting in touch with the club.

Our many projects in the year  include the Tawa Young Achievers Awards and our projects top off in December with hosting and organising the annual Tawa Lions Christmas Parade each year in December with support the children, families, schools, business, and community agencies.

Become a Lion and serving the community can give you so much more to you as well as community pride.

  • Allows you to connect to your community and make it a better place. Dedicating your time helps you make new friends, expand your network, and boost your social skills.
  • Is a great way to meet new people, especially if you are new to an area.
  • It strengthens your ties to the community and broadens your support network.
  • Helping others kindles happiness, as many studies have demonstrated.
  • Volunteering can teach you valuable job skills, in a time now where work experience can be as hard to get as a job or new career direction.

Become a Lion today - Serve the Community with Pride.
