Waiuku

The Lions Club of Waiuku is one of the few Lions Clubs in New Zealand fortunate enough to have its own clubrooms.  The derelict and unused town railway station was taken over in 1991 and took two years to lovingly restore and develop into a welcoming and well-appointed facility for the club and the community.

Established in November 1965 Waiuku Lions held a 50th Anniversary Lunch in October 2015.  Our major 50th year project was to replace the 19 year old community mobility van.  Other past projects still serving Waiuku include the town clock, the heliport, the estuary lake, the cemetery koru walk, a community notice board, and barbecue facilities at the Sandspit reserve. We are a major sponsor of the current Waiuku Skatepark upgrade.

Our major events include the annual Sand to Mud Fun Run, the Bruce Hope Memorial Golf Day, a Mid-Winter Lunch for local elderly who live alone, and a Pink Champagne Breakfast to support Breast Cancer.

With a membership of 35 we welcome new members who are keen to serve the community through our many project committees which include Firewood, BBQ, Catering, Youth Activities, and Mobility.

If you are interested in joining us email  the Secretary.
