SERVING OUR COMMUNITY

Lions Clubs New Zealand is part of a global organisation with 1.4 million members in 208 countries and geographic regions. With this much manpower, it's no wonder that Lions Club members can achieve extraordinary things, every day.

Each year, the Lions Club of Henderson-West Auckland Charitable Trust supports over 20 clubs and organisations within our local community. We also run activities each year that include the Junior Krypton Factor (JKF) for Primary Schools. The Hobsonville Point Runway Challenge Fun Run, An Intermediate School Speech Competition, Peace Poster competition and RNZN Band concert for senior citizens, as well as many other activities to support chosen charities.

As Knights of the Blind, Lions are also active in supporting the visually impaired. When a disaster strikes, Lions International are among the first on the ground providing

disaster relief and supplies to those in need.

2016 has also seen us concentrate our efforts on 4 challenges (Youth, Vision, Environment

and Hunger) as part of our centennial  celebrations.

WHAT’S INVOLVED BEING A LION

The Lions Club of Henderson-West Auckland is a mixed member club that meets twice monthly, plus any community activities members commit to.

We have a business meeting on the 2nd Tuesday monthly and a social meeting on the 4th Tuesday monthly.

Our business meeting is used to plan projects and conduct club business. Our social meeting is an opportunity to mix & mingle with other Lions and often includes dinner plus some other activity.

Your time commitment depends mainly on the community service activities you undertake.

Financial Commitment:

As Lions, 100% of all money fundraised from the community is delivered back into our community via our Charitable Trust. Therefore we charge an annual membership fee to Lions to cover the club’s operating costs as well as District and International dues.

The membership fee is set annually with our club’s fee for 2017 sitting at $120 per annum. This includes District and International dues. Other expenses, such as meals, refreshments and social functions are at individuals personal cost, accounted quarterly , if that suits.
